Outdoor FUN!!

Do you have a cat or dog that spends a lot of time outdoors? Help protect them with a Pet Protector Spray which is an all-natural essential oil mixture that should be sprayed all over your pet(s) before they go outside. Then after a strenuous activity like swimming or hiking, most dogs (and even cats) may benefit from soothed muscles. This Cool Down spray should get their tail wagging after you massage it into possible achy areas.

Bumps and Scrapes

Pets who enjoy the outdoors will benefit from this essential oil blend for cuts which should be applied directly to the wound:

  • 10 drops Frankincense

  • 10 drops Myrrh

  • 20 drops Lavender

  • 1 Tbsp Colloidal Silver

  • Top off with Organic Aloe Vera Juice

Shoo Fly

Many equestrians are constantly searching for the be-all-end all fly spray for their mounts. Thankfully, dōTERRA®’s TerraShield can be diffused barn-wide or diluted with 1 tablespoon of Fractionated Coconut Oil per each 3 drops and applied to the exterior of their ears and around their poll, along their spine (when turned out), at the base of the tail, along the neck, chest, belly, and legs. This also works to protect riders as well!

Ticks are attracted to dogs especially in certain seasons and areas.
Ticks should be removed immediately using tweezers to get it all off according to the CDC. (Once removed, your vet may want to identify the tick and check for tick-carried diseases.) However, essential oils are great as a tick repellent. The best oils to use as a natural tick repellent are Geranium, Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass and Lavender. Any combination of the above oils will work at repelling ticks, but the best essential oil for keeping ticks away is Geranium. Here is a recipe: 20 drops of Geranium, 5 drops Cedarwood, 5 drops Eucalyptus, 5 drops Lemongrass5 drops Lavender. Add 4oz of Apple Cider vinegar, Witch Hazel or Distilled water into a spray bottle. Directions: spray onto clothing before going outside. If you would like to use this on a pet I would recommend letting them smell a rag first and introducing it slowly to judge tolerance. Did you know that pets get mosquito bites, too?

For mosquito or other bug bites, a diluted drop of Cleansing Blend will create a wagging tail. Keep those pesky bugs at bay with a repellant spray. Simply mix 20 drops of TerraShield in 2 ounces of water and spray it on. (It will work on you, too!) A drop of Ginger and a drop of Lemon essential oil in Fido’s water bowl helps kill any internal worms while supporting his/her skin.

All Natural Pest Collar

Place the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Soak the collar for about 20 minutes. Hang the collar to dry completely before placing it on your dog. You will want to repeat the soak every 2-3 weeks or as necessary. 3 3 oz distilled water, 20 drops TERRASHIELD

Smooth PuppyIf you think itchy pets are distracting, think about how annoyed your pets must be! Help them ease up on the scratching with Itch-B-Gone in a 2oz spray bottle. Does your pet show signs of lumps and bumpy skin? Try the Smooth, Happy Dog Spray(consulting a veterinarian is recommended as well).

Kiss & Tell

There’s just something about dog kisses that warms the heart… unless they smell like the toilet bowl. This essential oil spray isn’t a substitute for behavioral changes but it can certainly help with his/her breath!

Add the following to a 2oz. sprayer bottle:

  • 10 drops of Protective Blend (On Guard)

  • 10 drops Myrrh

  • 10 drops Peppermint (omit for cats)

  • Top off with distilled water or FCO

  • Simply lift their lips and spray this mixture on each side of their mouth once or twice a day.

Wet Dogs...

Pets who are regularly bathed or swim often are prone to occasional ear discomfort. If you suspect your dog or cat has any ear discomfort, blend 1 drop of Lavender, 1 drop of Roman Chamomile (omit for cats) with 1 teaspoon of Fractionated Coconut Oil. Dip a cotton swab into the mix and apply the blend to the inner and outer flap of the ear, not directly into the ear shaft.

Now for that wet dog smell.

Pet shampoo is easy and fun to make! All you have to do is combine 1.25 cups of distilled water, 1 tbsp of Castile Soap, and 2 drops each of Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Rosemary and Cedarwood essential oils into a glass bottle and shake.

Voila! Your pup is now ready for a chemical-free bath and a clean smile!

Dogs love to smile and pet owners love a clean smile! 1 cup SVCO -10 drops Protective Blend -3 drops Peppermint -2 drops Frankincense -1 Tablespoon Baking Soda -Apply small amount to your pets toothbrush/ your finger and brush teeth.
